Carissa Smith

Carissa joined QCL’s Property and Disputes Team as a Law Clerk in February 2026 after completing her Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts at the University of Otago. Her formal graduation is scheduled for May 2026. She is currently undertaking her Professional Legal Studies (PROFS) through the College of Law and expects to be admitted to the High Court of New Zealand as a Barrister and Solicitor in July of 2026.

Originally from North Auckland, Carissa grew up in a small coastal community surrounded by her family’s oyster‑farming business. This background has shaped her down‑to‑earth, empathetic, and practical approach to client matters.

Outside the office, Carissa enjoys staying active, spending time with loved ones, exploring local markets and cafés, and cooking for friends and family.
